SKF

SKF India Ltd has an extensive campus of around 94 acres in Chinchwad, Pune. The Site dimensions are tentatively 119 m x 89 m, the total area being 9687.50 sq.m. SKF Corporate Headquarters Office Building is 37640 sq.ft & accommodates all the Central Management Functions: MD and Level 1 Managers with their teams. The building has been awarded with a LEED® Platinum certification. The design and detail of the Corporate HQ building aims at climate-responsiveness, site-sensitivity, resource-efficiency and functional efficacy. It aims at relieving the monotony of typical work halls by means of introducing daylight into the depths of the building, enabling visual connect with not only the abundant natural landscape available around the site, but also providing a closer connect with nature in the landscaped atrium that runs along the central spine of the building. Every space is designed to be function specific yet modular. The building was aligned keeping the “length” North- South & “breadth” East-West with the aim of reducing the heat gain of the building and eventually reducing the comfort cooling load. This also facilitates providing larger openings and windows which not only allow more daylight penetration but also provide good views to the exterior landscape. Daylight has been given priority because it reduces the artificial lighting requirement, improves the quality of the work environment, having a positive impact on the overall productivity. Hence, workstation areas (with higher occupant density) have been located parallel to the North fenestration with relatively deeper floor plate (around 11.4m). Whereas, cabins with smaller depth of 5.7m were planned along the southern side with smaller windows so that the daylight is controlled by the individual occupant of the cabin. The centrally lit & ventilated atrium also provides daylight to the surrounded work floors from the North and South. This landscaped atrium area serves as a breakout space from the office routine. The employees on the work floor have visual connection with the landscape in the exterior as well as with the interior spaces. Moreover passages, staircases, entry, fire exits and the canteen were planned along this atrium so that a person moving from one work area to another, passes by or overlooks the “green lung”, helping him rejuvenate. It also serves as informal discussion/ display areas and a visual experience of the SKF products and achievements is part of the overall atrium experience. 100 KW Solar system has been installed on the roof, assisting in the power supply for the building. The Corporate building is highly energy efficient, functionally efficient & blended with landscape around!
